MOUNTAIN GOAT HUNTS

Mountain goat offers one of the most economical, adventurous big game hunts in North America, if not the the entire world. SE Alaska and Kodiak Island offer excellent opportunities with very high success on trophy billies. These coastal hunts are typically wet and rigorous. The country is usually steep and brushy, but often requires far fewer miles hiked than a sheep hunt. Top end goats will measure 10” in length and score up to 48” B&C. Hunting opportunities run September through October while hides are prime.

We’ve partnered with some of the premier mountain goat outfitters in all of Alaska. Guides are very experienced and equipment is excellent. Float planes or large boats are used to access your hunting area. From there all hunting is done on foot. 4-10 miles per day is normal. Packers are often available. Rifles should be lightweight. Long range capability is by no means required, but can be helpful. I would consider .270 as a minimum caliber for mountain goat. A .300 magnum is preferred. Barnes TTSX or LRX is would be my ammo of choice.

Like all Alaska hunting adventures, mountain goat hunts require hunters to be in top physical condition and mental condition. These hunts will test you, but are among the best values in mountain hunting today!
